The Institute of Meteorology provides to its major users, data, products and services of value added of different kinds, including products of climatology and seismology, general and regional forecasts, short and medium term for land and the sea to the mainland, Autonomous Regions of the Azores and Madeira, Europe and Rest of the World.

It responds to requests, or, satisfying needs arising from regular contract.

    The business is conducted under the rules of the European bodies of the Institute of Meteorology is a member, in particular, the European Co-Operation on Meteorology (ECOMET), the European Centre for Weather Forecasting of the Medium-Term (ECMWF) and the European Organization for the operation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), the IM ensuring compliance with the directives, standards and recommendations issued in respect of commercial operations.

    To meet the demands of its customers the IM produces and presents a budget, in accordance with international rules and applying the price lists in force and approved by the authority, which put the acceptance of customers.
